New V-Strom

After a lot teasing Suzuki have finally unveiled the new 650 V-Strom. To me it just looks like a restyling job - a bit more of a modern look. The screen appears to be adjustable and the bike is slightly lighter. One negative is a drop in tank capacity - a real shame when the 650's are renowned for their economy and range. More info here.

I only have one question - where's the thou?

  1. I'm not sure why people didn't warm up to the bigger Strom. A few years ago I was looking at the 650. The dealer offered me a killer deal if I'd take the 1000 instead. Ended up with neither but it was interesting.

  2. I think it's because the 650 is so good: A bit lighter, superb economy and reasonable performance. It was cheaper for me to go for a used thou (with only 12k on it) than buy a new 650 (all second hand 650's have a zillion kms on them).

I do enjoy the thou's grunt though!

  3. It's a nice looking bike at last but I think Suzuki is being disingenuous by not updating the 1000 with ABS and new technology. I almost bought the 1000 before Yamaha announced they were bringing the Tenere :-)
