Breaking it in

After getting over the cold that I had last weekend and spending the week staring at a new helmet that hadn't be worn yet it was nice to be able to get out for just a short ride this morning.

Rather than head off on a major excursion I decided to go for just a short ride to get a picture for a thread I've been following on ADVRider.  I'd noticed the below wall mural on a trip through Foxton previously but didn't happen to have a bike with me at the time...

On the way in I noticed a couple more murals so had to double back to get them too.

Leaving Foxton I decided to make a loop of my trip rather than simply retracing my steps so I scooted over to Shannon before crossing over through Opiki to home.  A massive journey of around 80km...

And yes the helmet got broken in:

A few more pics of Foxton here.

  1. Nice looking murals. People have talent.

Good job breaking in that helmet. 80 km was probably far enough. After fighting off the cold it probably felt longer.

Hope health has fully returned and that your next ride is more comfortable all the way around.

  4. That helmet is looking smart. The graphic is especially attractive. It's so nice though, are you dodging every pebble or bug that come at you?

a new helmet feels so nice. Padding is tight and the visor is clear, no scratches or bugs. If only it would stay that way

I had to squint to see the bugs. Can't get those going the speed limit ! hope you are feeling better
