Well, we're in Queenstown having a bit of a rest day. The Southern Cross is well and truly behind us - we completed it with no problems on Friday 27th.
We had a pretty good ride overall with good weather over the entire North Island and no rain in the South until Christchurch. From there south the weather was pretty cold with some pretty yucky rain chucked in as well.
As for the ride, apparently 130 of us left Cape Egmont and all but 2 were expected to make it. A few unlucky sods put there bikes down and had mechanical issues etc. All we talked to cursed the rotten weather but enjoyed the ride. The Rusty's put on a good feed at the Eagle Tavern in Bluff and all sorts of stories were being told...

So far after the ride we've ridden up the East Coast via the Catlins & Nugget Point and then across to Te Anau and Milford Sound. We've just done the luge in Queenstown and are staying a second night here before heading on up the centre of the island.
Well that's about all for now, I'll write up something a bit better for the website. Meanwhile you can see some of our photos at the link below: http://picasaweb.google.com/andrew.l.thomson/2007SouthernCross
