A chilly loop

Sunday was fairly cold here - not a lot of sun, grey clouds and a definite nip in the air.  But...I needed to get a ride in.

I was keen to pop over and see the old's as Dad had just got a new toy that I needed to check out.  It's about 20km from my place to theirs and that's not a ride so I decided that the Apii Loop needed checking out.

The loop can be a little dodgy during winter.  There is frequently mud and wreckage on the road and when combined with damp/wet patches it pays to take things reasonably quietly.  But, the Connie had other ideas and I had a ball on what turned out to be a loop in pretty good condition.  Here's just a taster...

Oh, yeah, I like the new camera position too!

In Feilding it was time to check out the new toy.  Something a little different this time around...

I finally caved...

All that pressure from the Long Distance and Adventure riders finally overcame my prejudices, misgivings and sense of taste - I bought a BMW...

Panniers by Touratech...

May need an aftermarket seat for the LD stuff...

Yes, it is weird BMW face ugly...
So hopefully this one will prove to be economical and reliable...

Actually it was a pretty neat way to kill 4 hours or so on a crappy day and I just wish they made a Tenere or Connie...

And now for a brief puppy update...someone is doing a great job of converting her tucker into more dog and is also making a reasonable attempt at learning the rules of the house.  Still no sidecar on the horizon though...

Taken a split second before the paparazzi came under attack...

Yes, that is nose smudge on the camera lens...

F800GS Abuse

Some good riding here but also some unnecessary abuse (I hate seeing nice bikes being put down - if he didn't like the bike he could have given it to me).

The Big 6

More info on Motor Cyclist about the new BMW 6's. To models coming offering different standards of plushness. The motor appeals but probably a bit too much of a whale for me (yes, I know I ride a Concours) and I imagine the price will be in Gold-Wing territory...
