Fresh Rear complete with chicken strips |

And a front sporting some fuzz |
So the tyre repair held up nicely and the Connie got into the shop for her new shoes - the 10th pair I've put on her and the 6th pair of PR2's! Yes, she likes to eat her way through the rubber and I'm still very happy with the 2's.
Slightly less happy with the loaner bike -
think I've been there before...
Now to put some wear on the new rubber:

I put new PR2's on my Tiger ready for TT2000 as well. 1st time on PR2's and after 1000 km I love them.
ReplyDeleteI get between 10 & 12,000km out of them. The last set were at just under 11 and the puncture just hurried me along to change them. On the lighter Tiger I'd say you'll get even better. A mate gets about 14 on his Bandit 12.
DeleteYou're on your 10 set of tires on the Connie? You must have quite a few miles on her. I've installed 5 sets of PR2's on my '09 Zx-14, and then changed a rear last summer after I had a flat on a cross country trip. That's in 48,00 miles (77,250 k). Either your roads are much more abrasive, or you're one heck of a hard riding, knee dragging, rider!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever had the valve clearances checked on it? Mine was due at 26,000 miles and my mileage is almost double that and I still haven't had them looked at yet.
Our roads are pretty abrasive (especially in the South Island. From what I read around the place (and if you can believe it) you guys generally a lot better mileage.
DeleteValve clearances have been done twice but not for a while now. The Connie has the momentary cam chain rattle immediately after cold start (known issue and apparently not a real problem) but settles down after a couple of seconds.
She rides like new and I'm planning on a mileage update post very soon...
I had a little of the cold cam chain rattle on mine too. It started lasting longer and longer. I'd have to shut the bike off and restart it a few times to get it to stop. So I changed out the factory automatic tensioner for a manual one from APE. Very quiet now whether on a cold start or hot.
DeleteHooray all fixed up and race ready.
ReplyDeleteDid you feel a little cramped on that loaner bike?
Not too cramped but it was missing a few cc and a lot of torque.
