Not a TT report...

Yeah, still haven't got around to my TT write-up.  Excuses are work and more riding...

Last weekend I went for a pretty short 170km squirt with Colin.  We had a bit of fun on our way to Hunterville but apart from that and a good dousing, the ride was really blog-worthy.  But this past weekend both the Connie and the RMX got some exercise.

Let's start with Saturday's ride...

I'd been informed that we were riding on Saturday and that Colin would be arriving at 10 and this turned out to be pretty accurate with jug going on at around 10 as a BMW & Wee-strom pulling up the drive.

Coffee dealt to (it's a BMW thing), we tootled across town, up over the track and into Pahiatua for fuel and errrr, coffee...

From there we made our way through to Pongaroa, picking our way through roads strewn with metal and even one small stretch of gravel road works - luckily the Connie doesn't mind the odd adventure.  A hawk got a good close-up view of a Kawasaki somewhere in here too but got away with his slow take-off and hard right bank - phew!

There was more of the same on Route 52 through to Wimbledon with of course, the usual road slumps, humps and hollows on NZ's roughest sealed road.  I still do enjoy the ride and picking a semi-decent line through the mess is a challenge that perhaps help hone the old riding skills.  The Tenere probably is the best mount for out there...

Anyway, it's all good and after a quick buzz of Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu we ended up in Porangahau for a good and inexpensive lunch - well worth the stop.

Following our intake of fine tucker we turned back inland with the idea of taking backroads through Takapau but someone made a small navigational error which spat us out on SH2 for a minute or two before finding our way.

From Takapau we carried on South via the now familiar backroads through Ormonville and Te Uri and back into Danniverke.  More favourites got us back to Pahiatua where I lost the guys (apparently the Wee needed fuel) and pedaled it back home to Palmy.

Nice to get out on the old girl again but there's a couple of bikes in the shed that are missing out, better fix that...
